Yoga Class FAQs: Starting Your Practice
Do I need previous yoga experience?
No. Beginners are welcome, and practices are introduced progressively. Please share whether you are completely new, returning after a break or already have some experience so the guidance can begin at a suitable level.
What if I am stiff, inactive or have not exercised for years?
You do not need to become flexible before starting yoga. Sessions can begin gradually, with suitable variations and props where helpful. Sharp pain, dizziness or unusual discomfort should never be pushed through.
Are Ruuh Yog classes only for people over 35?
No. Adults of different ages may enquire. Ruuh Yog has a particular interest in helping adults over 35 maintain strength, mobility, balance and confidence in movement, but suitability is considered individually.
What The Classes Include
Does every class include asana, pranayama, kriya and meditation?
Ruuh Yog draws from all four areas, but they may not appear in equal measure in every session. The content depends on the class focus, experience of the students and what is appropriate on that day.
Will props be used during class?
Yoga blocks, a yoga belt, wheel or sturdy chair may be used to make a posture more accessible, support stability and clarify alignment. You do not need to purchase every prop before your first class; begin with a yoga mat and a stable chair unless advised otherwise.
What is the difference between private and group sessions?
Private sessions provide more focused attention and greater scope to adapt the practice around your pace, goals and relevant health considerations. Group sessions provide live guidance and the consistency of practising with others, although individualisation is naturally more limited.
Mumbai Home Sessions
Where are private home sessions available?
Private home sessions are currently available from Goregaon East to Malad West. Other locations in the western suburbs beyond Andheri may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the exact location, travel time and availability.
Do I need a separate yoga room?Â
No. You need a clean, well-ventilated area with enough room for a yoga mat and safe movement. A stable, non-rolling chair should also be available when requested.
Online Classes
Are online yoga classes effective?Â
Online classes can provide clear, live guidance when your camera and practice space are set up properly. The teacher can demonstrate, observe relevant movements and offer verbal cues, while you practise without travelling to a studio.
What technology and space will I need?
You will need a phone, tablet or computer with a stable internet connection, a camera angle that shows the relevant practice area and enough clear space to move safely on a yoga mat.
Are online classes available outside India?
Yes. Private and group online sessions are open worldwide. Private timings are arranged according to mutual availability, while current group timings are listed on the Online Yoga Classes page.
Can classes be adapted around a health condition or limitation?Â
Health, Diet & Lifestyle Guidance
Basic practice modifications may be possible for certain conditions, particularly in private sessions. Suitability depends on the condition, current symptoms, treatment and professional advice you have received. Some situations may require medical clearance before beginning.
What health information should I share?Â
Please disclose any diagnosed condition, persistent pain, recent injury or procedure, pregnancy, dizziness, balance concern or ongoing treatment that could affect the practice. This information helps determine whether the class format is suitable; it is not used to diagnose or treat a condition.
Will I receive guidance about diet and lifestyle?
Students with certain health needs may receive broad, basic guidance on yogic health management, daily routine, diet and lifestyle where appropriate. This is educational support and does not replace clinical nutrition advice or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional.
How long should I wait after eating before class?Â
Practising immediately after a substantial meal may feel uncomfortable. As a general guide, allow around three to four hours after a full meal. Individual health needs differ, so follow medical advice where relevant and tell the teacher if you need an adjustment.
Duration, Frequency & FeesÂ
How long is each class?Â
Every Ruuh Yog class lasts 60 minutes.
How often can I practise?Â
Choose three classes a week or a six-day Monday-to-Saturday practice. The most suitable frequency depends on the class format, your schedule and the consistency you are looking for.
What are the class fees?Â
-
Private yoga at home in Mumbai: ₹1,000 per class
-
Private online session: ₹500 per class
-
Online group session: ₹300 per class
Three-month package rates are also available. Enquire on WhatsApp for current options.
How do I pay?Â
Payment is accepted through online platforms like UPI. The relevant payment details and start date will be shared after the class format, schedule and availability are confirmed.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?Â
Private offline or online sessions should be cancelled 12 to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. The session may then be rescheduled for another mutually available day and time. Fees once paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
